Terms of service
What you are agreeing to
The agreement between you and Bolong Tech Inc., which operates LedgerLodge, when you create an account. It is written to be read once and understood, not to be long.

What the service is
LedgerLodge is bookkeeping software for a Canadian incorporated business whose owner keeps the books personally. It records expenses, receipts, mileage, invoices and bank activity, computes the income-tax deduction and the GST/HST input tax credit for each record under the CRA rule that applies, and prepares statements, exports and a year-end package a CPA works from.
LedgerLodge does not file anything, and it is not tax advice. It prepares the workpapers a return is built from; it does not prepare or submit a T2, a CO-17, an AT1 or a GST/HST return to the CRA or to any provincial authority, and nothing in it is advice from an accountant or a lawyer. Filing, and the judgement behind it, stay with you and your CPA.
The engine applies the rules it implements and says so where it does not — the pages under /rules state each rule as a number with the CRA source and the date it was read, and what is not computed lists the boundaries deliberately. It cannot decide whether an expense was genuinely for the business, and it does not make judgement-heavy choices such as home-office or shareholder-benefit treatment.
Your account
- You need an email address you control and a password. Keep the password to yourself; anything done with your sign-in is treated as done by you.
- One sign-in owns one set of books. There is no team layer, and that is by design rather than by omission. An account is for one corporation’s records, kept by the person who signs in.
- You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and you must be authorised to keep the records of the business you are recording.
Plans and prices
Two plans, differing in exactly one thing: whether AI does the reading. The current prices, in Canadian dollars, and what each plan includes are on the pricing page, which is the authoritative statement of both — they are not repeated here so that they cannot fall out of step.
GST or HST is added at checkout at the rate for your province. A price change is announced before it applies to you, and never applies to a period you have already paid for.
The trial, and read-only
Every new account starts with 30 days of the Complete plan. No card is taken, so nothing is charged when the trial ends and there is nothing to cancel.
When the trial ends without a plan being chosen, the account becomes read-only. Read-only is exact:
- everything you recorded is still there, and still readable;
- every export still works — the workbooks, the CSVs, and the ZIP packages with the receipt files in them;
- new records, edits and deletions are refused until you pick a plan. Finalizing a year-end CPA package is refused with them, because finalizing writes to the books;
- picking a plan lifts it, and the books carry on exactly where they were. Nothing is deleted for non-payment.
Cancelling, and refunds
You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next charge; the books stay readable for the rest of the period you have paid for, and read-only after that, on the terms above. Export before you go, and keep the export — the CRA expects books and records to be kept for six years from the end of the tax year they relate to.
- Bought on iPhone. The purchase is made with Apple and managed in your App Store subscriptions. A refund is requested from Apple and granted under Apple’s own policy — we cannot refund an App Store purchase, and asking us only costs you time.
- Bought on the web. The purchase is made through Stripe and managed from your settings. Payments are non-refundable, including a part of a month or a year you have started. What cancelling buys you is the rest of the period you have already paid for, not money back — so cancel when the renewal is the thing you want to stop.
Your records are yours, and they are your responsibility
The books belong to you. Export them whenever you like, in open formats, on any plan and after the trial has ended — that is a standing commitment and not a courtesy.
What LedgerLodge is responsible for is the arithmetic: every deduction, credit and tax figure is computed on the server from dated CRA rules, and each record keeps a snapshot of how its numbers were reached. What you are responsible for is the facts it computes from — that a trip happened, that a meal was with a client, that a receipt is the receipt it is attached to, that an expense was for the business at all.
AI capture drafts a record; it never saves one. You confirm what it read before it becomes part of the books, and the server recalculates the figures from the rules when you do. A draft you did not check is still your record.
Acceptable use
- Use the account for the records of the business it belongs to. It is not a bureau service: processing other people’s books in bulk through one plan is the one limit on otherwise unmetered AI capture.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, anything you have no right to hold, or anything intended to attack the service or the people using it.
- Do not try to break, overload or circumvent the service’s limits, or to reach another account’s records.
- An account used to break these rules can be suspended. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, you will be told first and given a chance to export.
Availability and changes to the service
The service is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and no uptime figure is promised here because none is measured and published yet. Features change: some are added, some are withdrawn. A change that removes something you rely on will be announced before it happens, and your ability to export what you have recorded is not something that will be taken away.
Tax rules change too. Rates and thresholds are dated rows carrying the CRA page they came from, and they are corrected as the CRA publishes. A figure computed before a correction keeps the snapshot it was computed with, which is the honest record of what was known at the time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, LedgerLodge is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit or lost opportunity, or for tax, interest or penalties assessed against you — those follow from a filing, and the filing is not ours to make. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud. Consumer protection legislation in your province may give you rights these terms cannot reduce, and it prevails over anything above that conflicts with it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction over any dispute.

Changes to these terms
These terms change when the service does. When they do, the date at the top changes with them, so the version you are reading is the version in force. Continuing to use the account after a change means the new terms apply; if a change does not suit you, export your records and cancel.
How your information is handled is set out separately, on the privacy page.
